Loulé launches guide to attract investment in nature conservation

Topicsnatural capital finance

Loulé Municipal Council, working with consultancy Natural Business Intelligence, has published a Natural Capital Investment Guide aimed at drawing public and private funding into projects that protect and restore the region's environment. It identifies seven priority areas, including ecological restoration, regenerative agriculture, sustainable forestry and nature tourism, and names Rocha da Pena, Fonte Benémola and Nave do Barão as key investment hubs. The municipality notes that 64% of its territory sits within Portugal's protected areas network, with 30,000 hectares of high natural value. The guide also details funding mechanisms and financial models to turn conservation into viable investment.
