Loulé unveils guide to turn natural capital into investment

Loulé has launched a Natural Capital Investment Guide identifying seven Nature Investment Hubs, covering ecosystem services, forestry funds, bioeconomy and nature tourism. Developed with NBI (Natural Business Intelligence), it aims to move beyond ecological diagnosis towards financeable projects involving landowners, businesses and public bodies. Nuno Gaspar de Oliveira, NBI's co-founder, explains in an interview that success depends on contracts, independent verification and recurring income for landowners, not the document itself. He highlights challenges around private land ownership, project scale and lack of monitoring systems, while pointing to EU restoration rules and nature credit roadmaps as drivers of demand.
