New irrigation network for Xévora inaugurated in Campo Maior

Portugal's DGADR inaugurated the irrigation network of the Xévora hydro-agricultural scheme in Campo Maior on 21 July, serving 1,560 hectares within an overall investment of about €25 million. The completed works, costing nearly €19 million and financed by the PDR 2020 rural development programme, include roughly 44km of pipes, 70 hydrants and 106 water outlets, fed by the Abrilongo dam. Officials including Agriculture Minister José Manuel Fernandes attended. A pumping station and environmental compensation measures are still planned, with the network expected to improve water management and support crop diversification for local farmers.
