Porto water utility ranked best in Portugal for third year

Águas e Energia do Porto (AEdP) has again topped the national ranking of water supply service quality, according to a study by consultancy Defining Future Options based on 2024 ERSAR indicators, keeping first place for a third consecutive year with 186.16 points. The company highlighted pipe renovation, which reached 11.4km in 2024 and 13.3km in 2025, plus a rollout of smart meters, with plans to replace up to 25,000 by year's end. It also improved its wastewater sanitation ranking, climbing 34 places in service quality since 2022. Investment of €8.2 million is planned for 2026-2027 to renovate over 34km of pipes.
