Portugal adds €4.5 million to Xévora irrigation scheme

Portugal's Ministry of Agriculture and Sea has announced a further €4.5 million investment in the Xévora Agro-Hydraulic Development, fulfilling a pledge made by Minister José Manuel Fernandes about a month ago at the inauguration of the scheme's irrigation network. The project, run by the Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development and co-funded by the European Union, includes building a pumping station in Xévora, in the parish of Nossa Senhora da Graça dos Degolados, Campo Maior municipality, Portalegre district. Tenders may be submitted until 2 October 2026. The investment targets a region where irrigation is considered essential to farming activity.
