Portugal gets €81.4m EU fund for public building efficiency

Portugal will receive €81.4 million from the EU's Modernisation Fund to support energy efficiency programmes in public buildings, part of a €2.5 billion package financing 51 energy projects across 11 member states. Announced by the European Commission and the European Investment Bank, the funding aims to modernise energy systems, cut greenhouse gas emissions and boost European competitiveness. The disbursement raises the fund's total support to €23.2 billion since January 2021. Romania receives the largest share, €639.9 million, for battery storage facilities.
