Public consultation opens for 23-turbine wind farm in Santiago do Cacém

The Parque Eólico do Sudoeste project, proposing 23 wind turbines across three sites in Santiago do Cacém, is under public consultation until 18 August via Portugal's Participa portal, with 100 submissions so far since it opened on 29 July. Promoted by Hyperion Renewables Sines, the 138 MW facility would include a lithium battery storage system and supply power directly to Start Campus's data centre in Sines. The developer estimates the project could avoid roughly 41,345 tonnes of CO2 equivalent annually. This scoping stage is a mandatory preliminary step before a full environmental impact assessment and a further public consultation.
