Quercus opposes Galp's 22-turbine wind farm in Mira project

Environmental group Quercus has issued an unfavourable opinion on Galp's plan to install 22 large wind turbines in Odemira and Ourique, part of the Mira Wind Farm project hybridising a photovoltaic plant in Ourique. Quercus says some turbines are planned for rustic land where renewable projects are currently barred under Ourique's municipal plan, and warns of impacts on protected species, forests and water resources near special protection zones. It is calling for the project's layout to be revised, excluded areas avoided, and extensive monitoring and mitigation measures adopted before licensing. Galp says construction would not start before 2029.
