Ribatejo farmers say Tagus valley still fragile seven months after storm

Seven months after storm Kristin hit Portugal, the Ribatejo Farmers' Association says the Tagus valley remains vulnerable, with unresolved damage and poor coordination among authorities. President Luís Seabra says farmers lack information on damage assessments and compensation, with weight restrictions still limiting traffic on Santarém bridges and flood-protection dikes at Vala da Azambuja only provisionally repaired by farmers themselves. He calls for a detailed public account of damage identified, cases analysed and payments made, and for clearer responsibility among agencies. Kristin and other storms killed at least 19 people and caused estimated damages above 5.3 billion euros.
