Serra d'Arga protected landscape proposal opens to 30 working days of public consultation
A proposal to classify the Serra d'Arga, in Viana do Castelo district, as a Regional Protected Landscape Area will go to public consultation for 30 working days from November, under a notice issued by the association of four municipalities: Vila Nova de Cerveira, Caminha, Viana do Castelo and Ponte de Lima. Residents can read the boundary proposal, management rules and supporting report at the town halls. The process began in 2017, partly to counter a mining project, and in 2022 the area was excluded from a lithium prospecting tender. The mountain covers about 10,000 hectares and has had Special Area of Conservation status since February.
