Tratolixo campaign urges four Lisbon-area councils to recycle more glass
Waste operator Tratolixo has launched an environmental education campaign called "Não fiques vidrado. Vidro é no verde" in Cascais, Mafra, Oeiras and Sintra, backed by the four municipalities and co-financed by Sociedade Ponto Verde through its Rede Recicla+ programme. It aims to raise glass recycling rates by encouraging people to use the glass bins correctly. The push follows a 1% fall in the glass recycling rate in 2025 against 2024, with 212,693 tonnes sent for recycling. Tratolixo's director-general points to a gap between what citizens say they intend to do and how they actually behave.
