Zoomarine centre issues guidance on stranded marine animals

As beach season approaches, Zoomarine's marine species rehabilitation centre, Porto d'Abrigo, has issued guidance on what to do when finding a stranded turtle, dolphin or seal on the coast. It advises keeping calm, not touching or feeding the animal, keeping people and pets away, observing without interfering, noting the exact location and photographing the animal if possible. The centre stresses contacting the relevant stranding networks, which operate 24 hours a day across the country, and lists phone numbers for the Algarve, Alentejo, Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, and northern Portugal regions.
