Biovilla Sustentabilidade is a cooperative for sustainable development nestled within the Herdade de Pinhal Basto in Vale de Barris, Palmela, in the Setúbal district of Portugal, situated in the heart of the Arrábida Natural Park. Founded on the principles of ecological living and community resilience, the project integrates three interconnected pillars: nature tourism, sustainability education, and landscape regeneration.
As a nature tourism destination, Biovilla offers accommodation with an outdoor swimming pool, terrace, massage services, and free Wi-Fi, providing guests with an immersive experience in a natural setting. Beyond hospitality, the cooperative runs a rich programme of retreats, workshops, and events designed to foster conscious and harmonious lifestyles.
At the heart of Biovilla's social mission are three dedicated programmes: VER (See), SER (Be), and WAVE — each crafted to engage participants in experiential learning, personal development, and environmental awareness. These initiatives reflect the cooperative's commitment to education for regeneration, empowering individuals and communities to adopt more sustainable practices.
Biovilla's regenerative approach spans multiple dimensions: producing and consuming 100% organic food, harnessing solar energy, conserving and recycling water responsibly, caring for local plant species, and pursuing zero-waste management through reuse and recycling. The cooperative structure reinforces values of shared governance, social innovation, and collective responsibility.
Recognised with the Eco Empresas award and diploma for its improvements in environmental quality across water management, waste, energy, mobility, and consumption, Biovilla has spent over 11 years contributing to both local and global sustainability challenges. With more than 15,000 followers on Instagram, it has cultivated a broad and engaged community inspired by its vision of a more sustainable and connected way of living.
Our Goal
Biovilla Sustentabilidade aims to demonstrate that it is possible to meet all human needs without compromising the future, operating in a way that is economically viable, socially responsible, and environmentally positive. The cooperative works to integrate regenerative practices across tourism, education, food, energy, water, and community life.
Our Wishes
Biovilla welcomes individuals, groups, and partners who share its vision of regenerative living — whether through attending retreats and workshops, co-creating programmes, or joining the cooperative community in its sustainable journey.
