Biovilla Sustentabilidade is a sustainable development cooperative on the Herdade de Pinhal Basto in Palmela, combining nature tourism, sustainability education and landscape regeneration. It runs retreats, workshops, events and the social programmes VER, SER and WAVE.
Biovilla Sustentabilidade is a cooperative for sustainable development built on three connected pillars: nature tourism, sustainability education and landscape regeneration. It sits on the Herdade de Pinhal Basto, in Vale de Barris, Palmela, inside the Arrábida Natural Park in the Setúbal district.
Guests stay in accommodation with an outdoor swimming pool, a terrace, massage services and free Wi-Fi. The cooperative also runs a full programme of retreats, workshops and events, aimed at more conscious and harmonious ways of living.
Three programmes carry the social side of the work: VER (See), SER (Be) and WAVE. Each one is built around hands-on learning, personal development and environmental awareness. The thinking behind them is education for regeneration, helping people and communities take up more sustainable practices.
Day to day, Biovilla produces and consumes 100% organic food, uses solar energy, conserves and recycles water, looks after local plant species and works towards zero waste through reuse and recycling. The cooperative structure keeps governance shared and responsibility collective, and supports social innovation.
Biovilla received the Eco Empresas award and diploma for its improvements in environmental quality across water management, waste, energy, mobility and consumption. It has spent more than 11 years working on local and global sustainability problems, and has over 15,000 followers on Instagram.
Our Goal
Biovilla Sustentabilidade wants to show that all human needs can be met without compromising the future, working in a way that is economically viable, socially responsible and environmentally positive. The cooperative is working to bring regenerative practices into tourism, education, food, energy, water and community life.
