Movimento ALP — Ajude a Limpar a Praia

Movimento ALP — Ajude a Limpar a Praia ('Help Clean the Beach') is a registered national environmental volunteering movement founded on 21 April 2011 by Rodolfo Amado da Silva. Its mission is to raise awareness about the protection of Portugal's beaches and coastal ecosystems, encouraging both individuals and companies to take part in hands-on conservation action. The movement organises open community beach clean-ups as well as 'Eco Team Building' events for businesses, sharing its know-how in environmental volunteering and sustainability practices. Since its founding, the movement has collected approximately 19 tonnes of litter from Portuguese beaches — equivalent to the load of four heavy goods vehicles — and has helped avoid the emission of around 37 tonnes of CO₂, comparable to driving six times around the Earth. Beyond the physical clean-ups, Movimento ALP places strong emphasis on environmental education, encouraging especially younger generations to develop a lasting connection with nature and to leave the places they visit cleaner than they found them. The movement has partnered with brands, NGOs and other organisations such as Hope Zones Foundation, Sea Shepherd Portugal and Corona, and has been involved in high-profile events such as the WSL surfing competitions in Peniche. Through its social media presence, it shares stories of clean-up actions, environmental reflections and calls to action, reinforcing the idea that individual gestures collectively create significant impact. Rooted in values of environmental and social responsibility, ethics and team spirit, Movimento ALP believes that anyone can make a difference without needing to belong to a formal organisation, and that community action multiplies individual impact.
