Reflorestar Portugal

Reflorestar Portugal plants biodiverse forests and designs agroforestry systems around the country. It is a non-governmental, non-profit association, working since 2017 and formally constituted as the Associação ReflorestarPT – Regeneração Ecológica e Social in March 2023. It works as an accelerator of natural processes, guided by the motto 'Think like a Forest'. The work rests on two connected pillars: ecosystem regeneration and social impact. Drawing on syntropy and biomimicry, the association designs interventions that go further than simply planting trees, building resilient and biodiverse ecosystems that take in the needs of both nature and the people around them. Native species, soil restoration and recovery of the water cycle carry much of the weight. Reforestation and agroforestry projects have reached survival rates of between 50% and 90%. Services include biodiverse reforestation, agroforestry design and implementation, consultancy on ecosystem regeneration, and regenerative project management. Companies can also book eco-team building, technical training in accelerated natural regeneration and succession agroforestry, and CO₂ compensation and ecological footprint offsetting. Teaching and community work sit at the centre of what the association does. Workshops, lectures, citizen assemblies and national gatherings follow a 'multiplying the multipliers' strategy: train people who then go on to inspire wider change. Programmes reach audiences from schoolchildren to corporate teams, from rural landowners to city dwellers, building a nationwide network of committed land guardians. The association brings together municipalities, companies, schools, rural communities and international partners.
