Rio-A-Dentro

Rio-A-Dentro organizes nature boat tours on the Tagus River near Lisbon, using environmentally friendly boats to explore wildlife, wild Lusitano horses, and hidden riverside landscapes.
Rio-A-Dentro is a nature tourism company based in Escaroupim, Salvaterra de Magos, less than 40 minutes from Lisbon. Founded around 2010 by brothers including Rui Domingos, the project offers guided boat tours along the Tagus River, promising visitors a chance to see the river 'as they've never seen it before.' Using electric and environmentally friendly boats, Rio-A-Dentro leads guests through unique and secret places along the Tejo, including the Ilha das Garças, a haven for birdwatchers and photographers, where herons, ibises, kites, and cormorants can be observed in their natural habitat. One of the tour highlights is the encounter with wild Lusitano horses roaming freely in harmony with nature along the riverbanks. The experience combines silent, comfortable navigation with storytelling from experienced skippers who share their deep knowledge and passion for the river. Tours typically last around 2.5 hours and are designed as guided nature excursions suitable for groups of friends and families looking for an authentic outdoor experience close to the capital. Rio-A-Dentro emphasizes a low-impact approach to tourism, valuing conservation and respect for the river ecosystem while making the natural richness of the Tagus accessible to a wider public. The company has been featured in various travel and lifestyle media and has built a loyal following among visitors seeking a nature-based escape from urban life.
Our Goal
To offer nature-based boat tours on the Tagus River that reveal its wildlife, wild horses, and hidden landscapes while promoting a low-impact, environmentally respectful way of exploring the river.
