Rio-A-Dentro organises nature boat tours on the Tagus River near Lisbon, using environmentally friendly boats to show visitors wildlife, wild Lusitano horses and hidden riverside landscapes.
Rio-A-Dentro is based in Escaroupim, in Salvaterra de Magos, less than 40 minutes from Lisbon, and runs guided boat tours on the Tagus River. Its boats are electric and environmentally friendly, and the trips are silent and comfortable. Brothers including Rui Domingos founded the nature tourism company around 2010.
The tours visit little-known spots along the Tejo. One of them is the Ilha das Garças, an island popular with birdwatchers and photographers, where herons, ibises, kites and cormorants can be seen in their natural habitat. Wild Lusitano horses roam freely along the riverbanks, and meeting them is one of the main moments of the trip. Experienced skippers guide each tour and tell stories about the river, drawing on what they know of it.
A tour usually lasts around 2.5 hours. It's planned as a guided nature outing, suitable for groups of friends and families who want to spend time outdoors close to the capital.
