Vida Pura is an eco-friendly retreat centre near Odeceixe in southwest Portugal. It runs on solar energy and harvested water, grows food on a biodynamic farm, and hosts wellness retreats, workshops and sustainable holidays. As a communitarian project, it puts its profits into local projects such as biological gardening programmes in nearby schools.
Vida Pura is a family-friendly eco retreat centre at Moinho das Canas, inside a natural reserve near the coastal town of Odeceixe and its award-winning beach. It's on the border between the Algarve and the Alentejo, in southwest Portugal. The centre runs entirely on solar energy, harvests its own water and recycles its waste. Food is grown on a farm guided by biodynamic principles, which is also home to donkeys, dogs, cats, ducks and chickens.
Guests can stay in a range of self-catering accommodation types, each with its own interior design in natural and recycled materials, or in a spacious guesthouse. External retreat organisations can use the site as a flexible facility for groups of 10 to 18 people, with tailor-made packages that can include transport and local activities. Weekly wellness activities, yoga sessions and workshops are organised on site.
From the centre, guests can go on river hikes, surf and bodyboard at Odeceixe Beach, or cycle to the local village. Aljezur, Lagos, Carrapateira, Vila Nova de Milfontes and Monchique are all within easy reach.
Vida Pura is run on a communitarian basis, and its profits are reinvested in local initiatives. These include biological gardening programmes in nearby schools.
