Transitar is a Portuguese environmental association based in Lisbon, and the first in Portugal to bring internationally recognised sustainability training programmes, such as the *Climate Fresk* and the *Biodiversity Collage*, to companies, schools and communities. For every corporate session it delivers, it gives an equivalent session free to a school or association.
Transitar runs science-based workshops on climate change and biodiversity. It was the first organisation in Portugal to introduce and adapt three training programmes recognised worldwide: the *Climate Fresk* (*Mural do Clima*), the *Biodiversity Collage* (*Mural da Biodiversidade*) and the *2 Tonnes Serious Game*. It's a Portuguese non-profit environmental association based in Lisbon, and its work is about getting people to act on environmental causes together and with good information.
The workshops are immersive and collaborative, and they rest on scientific evidence. Participants work out the root causes and consequences of climate change and biodiversity loss, then turn that understanding into concrete action, both personal and collective.
For every training session Transitar delivers to a company, it gives an equivalent session free to a school or association. This takes access to environmental education well beyond the commercial sector.
In Portugal, Transitar has run more than 150 workshops and training sessions, and is building a community of facilitators, partners and engaged citizens across sectors. It has also contributed to a global network of over 100,000 trained facilitators and more than 2.3 million workshop participants.
Companies work with Transitar to bring their teams in line with sustainability goals, through team-building sessions that combine science with strategy. Its work covers schools, universities, companies and civil society organisations. It also has a network of more than 20 specialist consultants in circular economy, climate change, biodiversity, sustainable food and mental health.
People can get involved by attending a workshop, training as a certified facilitator, joining as a member or volunteering.
Our Goal
Transitar wants to mobilise and educate people in Portugal, collectively, about environmental problems, especially climate change and biodiversity loss. Its means are science-based, interactive training sessions for companies, schools and civil society.
