Three sustainable wood and stone eco-design holiday villas in Jardim do Mar, Madeira, built by founders with a background in engineering, renewable energy and permaculture.

Woodlovers Villas offers sustainable holiday accommodation in Jardim do Mar, a village on Madeira. The villas sit on a green, organic plot with sea views, cliffs, cropland, banana plantations and vineyards. The project grew out of its founders' work in engineering, renewable energy and permaculture. They built the first contemporary Woodhouse on the island, designed to respect and blend with the natural surroundings. There are three private units, one on the ground floor and two on the first floor, with gardens around them. Guests share a barbecue area, a swimming pool, a chill-out zone, an organic garden and laundry facilities. In response to guest feedback, the pool is now heated to 28 °C between November and April, for an extra fee. The villas favour solar and aerothermal energy. The garden furniture is made from recycled and reused materials, and housekeeping and cleaning follow eco-friendly practices. Recent renovations brought in natural lime coatings and natural materials for the interiors, to minimise the environmental impact. Woodlovers Villas is a Business Partner of One Tree Planted and has committed to planting a tree for every guest who stays. Hiking, surfing, snorkelling and paddling are all within easy reach.

Our Goal

Woodlovers Villas wants to offer sustainable holiday accommodation on Madeira that fits into its natural setting, built in wood and stone in a way that respects the environment around it.

Our Wishes

The project welcomes guests who care about sustainable tourism and time in nature. It intends to keep working with organisations like One Tree Planted to widen its environmental impact.
