Community supported agriculture in Portugal
A CSA moves the risk. You pay ahead, the farm plants against a known number of households, and a bad year is shared rather than absorbed alone by the grower. It suits a climate where the difference between a wet spring and a dry one is the whole harvest.
Quinta do Arneiro and Quinta da Caria run subscription boxes out of the Lisbon and Torres Vedras area. Herdade do Freixo do Meio delivers from its Alentejo montado. Cabaz da Grela does it near Sever do Vouga, and Graneleiro de Janas is the shared storage and pick-up version near Sintra.
