Lagoa council backs rezoning of 12 hectares for up to 743 homes

Topicssustainable housingland regeneration

Lagoa council has approved a simplified amendment to its municipal master plan that would turn about 12 hectares of rural land at Calvário, in Estômbar e Parchal parish, into urban land for housing. Up to 743 homes could be built with private investment: 520 affordable and 223 on the open market. At least 70% of the above-ground floor area, around 71,374 square metres, must go to public, affordable-rent or cost-controlled housing. The plan also includes green spaces, cycle and pedestrian links and a new road. Delivery remains subject to further legal procedures and conditions.
