Madeira schools collect over seven tonnes of e-waste

Schools in Madeira collected more than seven tonnes of batteries, lamps and electrical equipment during the 2025/2026 school year, as part of the 15th edition of the 'Escola Electrão' recycling campaign. The haul included 5,367 kg of electrical equipment, 1,698 kg of batteries, and 539 kg of lamps. As a reward, Madeira's schools will receive 2,100 euros in prizes. Nationally, 720 schools took part, including those in the Azores and Madeira, with points awarded per quantity collected converted into gift vouchers.
