Matosinhos mall to host Japanese textile-repair workshop

On 19 September, MAR Shopping Matosinhos will host a Sashiko workshop, organised with Academia LIPOR, teaching the traditional Japanese stitching technique used to mend and extend the life of clothing. Trainer Maria José Dias, from Trashless, will guide participants through the method's history and basic stitches, and have them repair a textile piece. The event highlights EU data showing 16kg of textile waste per person was generated in 2022, with 85% of household textile waste still not collected separately. Registration costs 20 euros and places are limited.
