Portugal a year late on EU Social Climate Plan

Portugal has missed by a year the EU deadline to submit its Social Climate Plan, needed to access the European Social Climate Fund. Environmental group ZERO delivered a report to the Ministry of Environment and Energy based on 68 testimonies gathered from citizens about poor home heating and cooling conditions. The Fund could mobilise about €1.63 billion for Portugal by 2032, but the delay postpones investment in energy-efficient housing and mobility. ZERO also launched a European petition urging faster, fairer implementation of climate transition measures, warning that further delays could harm both climate goals and social protection.
