Torres Vedras to host national meeting on water quality challenges

On 23 September, the APDA's Water Quality Committee will hold a national meeting in Torres Vedras titled "The Future of Water Quality: emergencies, innovation and people." The event addresses the digital and regulatory transition facing Portugal's water sector, including real-time monitoring to ensure infrastructure resilience and rapid responses to contamination. Discussions will also cover the sector's difficulty recruiting and retaining skilled staff despite growing digital demands. The programme is organised around three themes: innovation and instrumentation, sector modernisation under the new EU Drinking Water Directive, and strategies to attract younger talent while preserving institutional knowledge.
