Elisabeth Anema

Elisabeth Anema, together with her husband Jan, is a Dutch co-founder of Quinta Anema in Lavre, Montemor-o-Novo. In 1987 the couple moved to Portugal to pursue a social action project involving organic farming, later founding the Escola Viva programme. After years focused on dairy farming, they returned in 2010 to their original Dutch trade of organic cheesemaking, producing Gouda-style cheese from the milk of their Blaarkop cattle.
