A Quinta da Lage

A Quinta da Lage — known simply as 'A Quinta' — is an off-grid regenerative farm and learning community located in the Herdade da Lage near São Luís, in the South West Alentejo coastal natural park of Portugal. Surrounded by forest, a river, fruit trees, and abundant gardens, the project sits just a short drive from the wild beaches of the Costa Alentejana. A Quinta brings together co-living, co-working, and permaculture in a shared, nature-immersed environment. It welcomes digital nomads, remote workers, conscious travellers, and long-term residents seeking a slower, more intentional lifestyle. Shared spaces, fresh food from the land, and a peaceful setting provide the backdrop for rest, creativity, and personal projects. Beyond accommodation, A Quinta runs a rich programme of seasonal immersive courses and workshops. Offerings include natural building intensives, agroforestry and perennial design, water-wise and dryland gardening (Oasis Design), permaculture design courses, and programmes focused on inner growth and creative expression. The farm also calls for permaculture facilitators to bring their own programmes and vision to the space. The project operates on an entirely off-grid basis, embodying principles of energy independence, regenerative land management, and community resilience. Volunteering opportunities allow participants to engage directly with the farm's daily rhythms and contribute to its ongoing development. A Quinta da Lage stands as a living example of sustainable, community-centred living in one of Portugal's most biodiverse and protected landscapes.
