AIM Forest is a natural capital platform dedicated to building sustainable, high-density irrigated cork oak plantations across southern Portugal. Founded in 2023 by a team of investment and forestry professionals, the company transforms underutilised rural land into productive, FSC-certified forests that generate diversified revenue from cork sales, Verra-certified carbon credits, and EU agricultural grants.
The platform currently manages two operational properties, Herdade da Figueira and Herdade da Vinagra, totalling 680 hectares, with over 30,000 trees already planted. Carbon credit registration is underway through Verra's Verified Carbon Standard (VCS). AIM Forest's ambition is to scale its portfolio to between 5,000 and 10,000 hectares, deploying €40–50 million in capital and installing capacity for 1.5 million trees, ultimately capturing over 1 million tonnes of CO₂.
Cork is positioned as a strategic material for aerospace, e-mobility and green construction, driving renewed industrial demand for irrigated cork oak forestry. AIM Forest combines this opportunity with rigorous financial discipline, backed by a principal shareholder classified as an Article 9 SFDR fund, reflecting institutional-grade sustainability credentials.
The company is actively sourcing new cork oak properties in southern Portugal to expand its footprint, with a pipeline exceeding 1,000 additional hectares aligned with its proven plantation model. AIM Forest positions itself at the intersection of forestry expertise and institutional finance, offering landowners and investors a pathway to participate in Portugal's cork and carbon economy while contributing to biodiversity conservation and rural land regeneration.
