ANP | WWF – Associação Natureza Portugal is a Portuguese non-governmental organisation dedicated to nature conservation, operating in association with the global WWF network. Formerly known simply as ANP – Associação Natureza Portugal, the organisation rebranded to ANP|WWF to reflect its long-standing partnership with WWF, one of the world's largest independent conservation organisations. Based in Lisbon, ANP|WWF works on biodiversity protection, ecosystem restoration and environmental policy advocacy throughout Portugal. The organisation is active in river and wetland restoration, calling for the restoration of the Vascão River to mitigate the impacts of drought, and running the Plantar Água initiative, which is helping to recover around 475 million litres of water per year in the Algarve. ANP|WWF is also a member of C7, a coalition uniting the seven largest environmental organisations in Portugal, through which it collaborates on joint advocacy for stronger environmental protection policies. It partners with businesses and institutions on biodiversity initiatives, such as its collaboration with Iglo on biodiversity protection projects, and runs awareness campaigns like the One Planet City Challenge and Green Heart of Cork+. With a team coordinating conservation and policy work, ANP|WWF plays an active role in shaping national conversations on nature protection, climate resilience and sustainable resource management. As part of the WWF network, it draws on international expertise and scientific research while focusing its efforts on the specific ecological challenges facing Portugal, including habitat loss, water scarcity, and threats to native species and protected areas. The organisation also engages the public through donations, symbolic species adoptions, volunteer opportunities, internships and a face-to-face fundraising team.
