Aventuras da Libélula is an off-grid community and education hub nestled in a forest valley near Figueiró dos Vinhos, combining nature-based Montessori learning for young children, summer camps for families, and ecological restoration through permaculture and syntropic agroforestry.

Aventuras da Libélula is an immersive off-grid living project located in a forest valley near Figueiró dos Vinhos, in the Leiria district of Portugal. Powered by solar energy and rooted in a deep commitment to sustainable living, the project serves as both a community hub and an education centre where children and adults can reconnect with the natural world. At the heart of the project is a year-round educational programme for children aged 2 to 6, grounded in the Montessori philosophy. This child-centred approach encourages exploration, play, and natural learning as the foundations of daily life. Each summer, Aventuras da Libélula opens its doors wider, inviting children and families to participate in immersive nature experiences — including the popular summer camp — filled with discovery, laughter, and meaningful outdoor learning. The project also functions as a welcoming space for families considering a move to Portugal in search of an alternative lifestyle. Visitors can experience off-grid community living firsthand through the 'Experience Hub', helping them make informed decisions about life transitions. On the land, Aventuras da Libélula applies permaculture design and syntropic agroforestry techniques — including the planting of syntropic lines — to restore ecosystem biodiversity and move towards full self-sufficiency. The team sees itself not merely as tree planters but as co-creators of landscapes and guardians of life, working with intelligent, regenerative strategies designed to leave a positive legacy for the next seven generations. Volunteer opportunities are regularly available, particularly for those wishing to contribute to tree-planting and ecological restoration. The project's 'Tartaruga Dome' structure is open to visitors during the week, offering an entry point into this vision of holistic, community-centred, and nature-integrated sustainable living.
