Spirala Ecovillage is a regenerative camping site, experimental community hub, and event venue nestled in the peaceful countryside of São Miguel de Acha, in the Castelo Branco District of Portugal. Initiated by a group of like-minded friends who dreamed of a grounded and conscious gathering place, Spirala has grown into a multicultural space that nurtures connections between individuals, communities, and the natural world. Spanning 10.4 hectares, the land features eco-friendly facilities built from local, natural materials, including dry toilets, outdoor showers, and a communal kitchen — all designed to support a low-impact, sustainable lifestyle. While operating largely off-grid, the site provides essential modern comforts such as electricity, drinking water, and Wi-Fi. A natural swimming pond serves as a thriving habitat for wildlife including snakes, turtles, frogs, and fish. As a non-profit-driven organisation, a significant portion of Spirala's revenue is reinvested into land stewardship, environmental regeneration, and biodiversity preservation. The community is dedicated to regenerative living practices that restore and rejuvenate the natural environment, and actively collaborates with local and international innovators to develop cutting-edge regenerative techniques. Spirale functions as an Eco-Hub for learning, cultural exchange, and community building, offering workshops and activities suitable for all ages. Guests can enjoy bodily and movement practices such as Qi-Gong, Ecstatic Dance, and Yoga. The site also hosts festivals — including the Mud Re Terra Festival — bringing together music, nature, workshops, and families in a celebratory and grounded atmosphere. Whether visiting for a short retreat, attending a workshop or festival, or seeking a longer-term community experience, Spirala invites everyone to slow down, reconnect, and explore life at a more thoughtful and deliberate rhythm.

Our Goal

Spirala Ecovillage aims to create an international, multicultural community in rural Portugal that fosters deep connections between people and nature through regenerative living, sustainable construction, and cultural exchange.

Our Wishes

Spirala welcomes individuals from all backgrounds to join their community, participate in workshops and festivals, or stay long-term, and seeks collaboration with local and international innovators in regenerative practices.
