Quinta Travancinha

Quinta Travancinha is an intentional community on an 11-hectare property near Travancinha, Guarda, built up since 2015 around shared living, natural building and small-scale farming. It welcomes volunteers, paying guests and people curious about community life.
Quinta Travancinha sits at the foot of the Serra da Estrela, on an 11-hectare property bought in 2015 by one of its founders and then opened up to others as a shared venture. Four people currently form the core group, living under a 'deelgenootschap', a Dutch-style partnership giving every member an equal say regardless of how much they've invested financially.
Over four years the community has built a community building, private and shared apartments, a camping and tenting area, a pool, a chicken house, a greenhouse and a vegetable garden, plus a separate building with showers and toilets meant to support future events. Current projects include a syntropic food forest, a natural swimming pool and a tiny house built from cob and other natural materials down by the Seia river.
Visitors can come as paying guests staying in a studio or tent, rent the facilities for an event or workshop, join as a volunteer through a work exchange, or simply come to explore whether community life is for them. The land itself offers room for both solitude and company: quiet spots to meditate or walk by the river, hiking trails into the mountains, and shared spaces for those who'd rather socialise.
Most of the founding members have grown older together on the land, and attracting younger people to share the vision is now a stated priority. The project describes itself, fittingly, as 'a never ending expedition'. It runs a WWOOF host profile for volunteers wanting details on food, accommodation and daily work, and it can be reached directly by email or through its social media channels.
Our Goal
Quinta Travancinha builds a community around shared land at the foot of the Serra da Estrela, combining regenerative agriculture, natural building and a shared decision-making structure.
Our Wishes
The project is looking for new volunteers to help build a syntropic food forest, a natural swimming pool and a cob house, and it hopes to attract younger people to join its shared vision.
