Ceiba Permacultura

Ceiba Permacultura teaches and designs permaculture in and around Vila Nova de Famalicão, in northern Portugal. Practitioners including Henrique Zamith and Carla Braga lead it, and it has been part of local sustainability work since at least 2013. It runs permaculture trainings and workshops with the municipal educational services and with community programmes such as the Parque da Devesa gardens. The approach is grassroots and puts education first. The emphasis is on free or low-cost training open to the general public, and on working with municipal and civic organisations in the Ave region. The project appears often in regional sustainability networks. It has taken part in collaborations connected to "Famalicão por um Mundo Melhor" and the Comunidade Intermunicipal do Ave (CIM do Ave), and has been listed there among the local actors contributing to climate resilience and territorial adaptation strategies. It has also contributed to academic and community discussions on gardens and gardening, in line with an educational mission centred on passing on ecological knowledge. There's no dedicated project website at the moment. The work shows up instead through educational partnerships, community events such as forest bathing immersions in the Devesa forest, and regional environmental initiatives that tackle invasive species and support the health of river ecosystems. It covers hands-on permaculture demonstration, teaching in community gardens, and public engagement on the ecological emergency and resilience.
