Cooperativa Integral da Terra

Cooperativa Integral da Terra is a self-financed cooperative network connecting around 33 small producers, artisans and businesses between Sines and Faro, offering shared accounting, legal support and distribution services. Its Hub Colos site in Odemira brings together a shop, café, workshops and food processing facilities under one roof.

Cooperativa Integral da Terra is a multisectoral cooperative based in Colos, Odemira, serving a network that stretches from Lagos to Sines and Monchique to Vila do Bispo. It exists to let small producers and local businesses operate without getting buried in bureaucracy. Members get access to shared accounting, legal advice, marketing, sales and product distribution, plus legal protection and optimised taxation for their projects. The cooperative counts close to 500 members and lists 33 connected projects on its online map, covering trades from bakery and carpentry to blacksmithing, solar installation, natural cosmetics, horse-assisted therapy and food fermentation. Many of these operate out of Hub Colos, a site at Quinta do Coito Grande that already includes an organic shop and café, food distribution warehouses, a cooperative transformation kitchen, refrigerated storage, a blacksmith and metalworker's shop, carpentry, a sawmill, tiny house construction, off-grid solar installation, an organic garden and a wellness centre. A skatepark, chocolaterie, pizzeria, weaving studio, climbing wall, pottery studio, coworking offices and gym are under construction there. The model rests on cooperation rather than competition: members share experience and knowledge, trade resources and services between each other at preferential rates, and rely on the cooperative's central structure instead of each running their own back office. The stated aim is to strengthen the local economy from the smallest project to the largest, treating success as collective rather than individual, since the cooperative belongs to its members. The network spans gastronomy, farming, forestry work, construction, carpentry, textiles, natural cosmetics, wellness, photography, education, workshops, nature tourism, events and business incubation.

Our Goal

Cooperativa Integral da Terra supports small local producers and businesses across the southwest Alentejo and west Algarve by taking on accounting, legal advice and bureaucracy, so members can focus on their work while strengthening a shared local economy.

Our Wishes

The cooperative is looking for new local producers, artisans and small businesses to join its network, and for people willing to contribute skills, services or products that can be exchanged between members.
