The Dialogue Lab

The Dialogue Lab is a laboratory dedicated to human emergence, co-creating methods of engagement for a participatory culture. Based near Odemira in the Alentejo region of Portugal, and connected to the Mosaic Village community, the project designs and facilitates dialogue-based processes that bring people, teams, and territories into meaningful collaboration. Its work spans several areas: the design and facilitation of participatory processes through custom dialogue formats and co-creation labs; community activation and ecosystem building through live or digital gatherings that foster values-driven communities; project-based learning and prototyping journeys that guide individuals and groups from purpose to tangible outcomes; dialogue methodology and capacity building through toolkits, trainings, and mentorship for facilitators; team culture development and strategic alignment for organisations; and insight harvesting that synthesises participatory processes into visual reports and strategic recommendations. One of its flagship initiatives is the Forum of the Territory (Fórum do Território), a multi-year democratic innovation project co-designed with the Municipality of Odemira. Through thematic encounters held across the region's parishes—addressing topics such as education and immigration—the Forum brings together local citizens, institutions, and stakeholders to reflect collectively on the future of the territory, gathering contributions to help shape local policies and initiatives around inclusion, intercultural coexistence, and social cohesion. Founded by Brenno Kaschner Russo, a dialogue catalyst and researcher of collective intelligence, The Dialogue Lab has initiated and collaborated on projects across 17 countries, partnering with organisations such as EIT Climate. Its practice draws on philosophical concepts of assemblage and collective intelligence to explore how dialogue can reshape relationships, perspectives, and the capacity of groups to imagine and build shared futures.
