Figueirinha Ecoturismo

Located just 25 km from the beach of Vila Nova de Milfontes and the Costa Vicentina, Figueirinha Ecoturismo is a rural tourism property in the parish of Relíquias, municipality of Odemira, Alentejo. Set in a valley surrounded by centuries-old cork oaks and olive trees, the property offers a peaceful retreat between sea and countryside, with ferns and rockrose flowers dotting the landscape. The project began welcoming guests in 2012 after expanding into rural tourism in 2009, evolving from a working farm into a home that blends hospitality with sustainability. Accommodations include double rooms, family rooms, and tents such as the Kanimambo and Hambanine, as well as glamping cabins named Mamana and Xonguila. Guests can also book the entire property for private family or group retreats. Sustainability is central to daily life at Figueirinha: the property maintains a chemical-free organic vegetable garden growing cabbages, tomatoes, lettuce, peppers, leeks, beets, onions, and courgettes according to the season. A biological swimming pool, composting systems, dry toilets, solar panels, and a chicken coop all support a low-impact way of living. Visitors can explore the region through guided walking and cycling tours, discovering the wild beaches of the Costa Vicentina and the diverse, multicultural landscape of the Odemira countryside. The project also welcomes volunteers each season to help with the many tasks of rural tourism — from hosting guests and communal cooking to gardening, composting, and animal care — fostering a genuine sense of community between hosts, volunteers, and travelers seeking a slower, more connected way to experience Alentejo.
