Florestas de Iroko is a regenerative polyculture company based in the Alentejo that designs, implements, and manages productive agroforestry systems on clients' land, handling everything from planting to sales. A finalist in the Top 10 of the BPI National Agriculture Prize 2025, it manages over 450 hectares across more than 15 partner properties.
Florestas de Iroko is a multidisciplinary technical company specialising in regenerative agriculture, landscape planning, and agroforestry implementation across Portugal, primarily in the Alentejo region. Operating under the legal entity Conceptual Jungle U., Lda, the company works on client land from the Alentejo to the Ribatejo, converting monocultures or inactive plots into diversified, productive ecosystems.
Its flagship service, CombIroko, installs productive polycultures — including physalis, strawberries, tomatoes, beetroot, and aromatic herbs — either between existing rows of olive trees, almond trees, or vineyards, or from scratch on bare land. The process is fully managed by the Iroko team: soil, water and vegetation diagnosis, design and zoning, planting and irrigation installation, ongoing maintenance and biofertiliser application, harvesting, and sales. Landowners receive real-time reporting and financial returns without needing agricultural expertise or day-to-day involvement.
The system is designed for strong financial viability, with break-even projected by the second year and returns of up to €50,000 per hectare per year — roughly six times the Portuguese national average of €6,500/ha/year. A documented case study, the 'Projeto Integrado' in the Alentejo (3.4 ha), demonstrates the model: a previously inactive plot was converted into a complete agroecological system featuring 107 biodiversity rings, 1,765 metres of alley cropping, a swale network, and productive windbreaks, with a projected 15-year return of €849,000.

Florestas de Iroko aims to transform underused or monoculture farmland into highly productive, biodiverse agroforestry systems that generate significantly higher financial returns than conventional agriculture while regenerating soil, water, and ecosystems.
