Inland Portugal is a licensed travel agency (RNAAT 618/2024) that plans small-group trips through Portugal's interior. Its routes take in remote rural paths, permaculture farms and artisan workshops, where visitors meet the farmers, craftspeople and changemakers who shape these places. The aim is to show the quieter, more authentic side of the country, as an alternative to mass tourism. Alexandra Melo, a former journalist and entrepreneur, founded the agency. She has spent over 16 years researching and working with artisans across Portugal's interior, and she built Inland Portugal to reconnect travel with truth, slowness and social impact. Trips range from guided walks with botanical specialists to scientific visits away from the usual tourist routes. Groups are always small and relaxed, made up of friends and colleagues. The agency holds the Good Travel Seal from Green Destinations, an internationally recognised certification. It covers the agency's commitment to minimising environmental impact, supporting local communities and promoting conscious travel. Inland Portugal is also a member of Turismo 360°, a Portuguese sustainability programme. The company supports rural communities directly. It helps preserve traditional skills and creates new economic opportunities for local artisans and non-profits.
