Inland Portugal

Inland Portugal is a licensed travel agency offering soulful, small-group journeys through Portugal's rural interior, connecting travelers with artisans, farmers, and permaculture farms while promoting slow, responsible tourism.
Inland Portugal is a licensed travel agency (RNAAT 618/2024) dedicated to showcasing the quieter, more authentic side of Portugal. Founded by former journalist and entrepreneur Alexandra Melo, who has spent over 16 years researching and collaborating with artisans across the country's interior, the project was built to reconnect travel with truth, slowness, and social impact. Rather than mass tourism, Inland Portugal designs journeys through remote rural paths, permaculture farms, and artisan workshops, offering visitors real encounters with the farmers, craftspeople, and changemakers who shape these territories. Experiences range from guided walks with botanical specialists to scientific visits off the usual tourist routes, always delivered in small, relaxed groups of friends and colleagues. The company holds the internationally recognised Good Travel Seal from Green Destinations, certifying its commitment to minimizing environmental impact, supporting local communities, and promoting conscious travel. It is also a member of Portugal's Turismo 360° sustainability programme. Beyond guiding travelers, Inland Portugal actively supports rural communities by helping preserve traditional skills and creating new economic opportunities for local artisans and non-profits. The company positions itself as a partner for hotels, tour operators, and businesses seeking ESG-aligned, sustainable tourism collaborations in Portugal. Through storytelling, cultural immersion, and a deep respect for local heritage, Inland Portugal aims to transform travel into a positive force for both people and place, inviting guests to slow down, breathe, and experience Portugal at its own rhythm.
Our Goal
Inland Portugal offers authentic, slow-travel experiences that reconnect visitors with the land, people, and traditional culture of Portugal's rural heartlands, while supporting local communities, artisans, and non-profits.
Our Wishes
The project seeks travelers and partner organisations aligned with responsible, sustainable tourism to collaborate on meaningful, small-group journeys.
