Terramadome is a 7-hectare organic and experimental farm near Penamacor, Beira Baixa, offering eco-friendly self-built accommodations, workshops on natural construction and self-sufficiency, and a gateway to the Naturtejo UNESCO Geopark.

Terramadome is an organic and unusual farm of 7 hectares located in Penamacor, in the Beira Baixa region of central Portugal. Founded in 2018 by Julien and Sandrine, the project was built with love and determination over five years before opening its doors to ecotourism and responsible tourism in 2023. The farm's accommodations are atypical and experimental in their design, drawing on natural and sustainable building techniques — including earthbag and superadobe construction — and featuring diverse architectural styles that reflect the founders' commitment to low-impact living. Guests can stay in original eco-friendly dome dwellings available for short-term rental, relax across the expansive grounds, and connect with the rhythms of a small working farm with animals. Beyond accommodation, Terramadome hosts workshops on natural construction, self-defence, soap making, and self-sufficiency, inviting participants to develop practical skills rooted in ecological values. The project is also a base for exploring the outstanding natural and cultural heritage of the surrounding region, including the Naturtejo UNESCO Geopark, the medieval villages of Sortelha and Monsanto, the Serra da Estrela mountain range, the Serra da Malcata nature reserve, and numerous river beaches. Terramadome embodies a vision of rural living that is thoughtful, creative, and deeply connected to the land — offering an inspiring alternative to conventional tourism for those seeking meaningful experiences in the heart of Portugal.
