Jinja
Jinja is a sustainable design brand in Porto, founded in 2012 by Norma Silva. It makes handmade home products from reused industrial textile waste, following circular economy principles and combining good design with ecological responsibility.
Jinja makes handmade home products from industrial textile waste: bowls, baskets, boxes, table accessories, vases, lamps and side tables. Designer Norma Silva founded the brand in Porto in 2012.
The circular economy is central to how it works. Discarded material from industry is Jinja's main raw material, so less goes to waste and fabric that would otherwise be thrown away gets a second use. For everything else, the brand tries to use materials as ecologically as possible, and it keeps looking for ways to improve and innovate in how it produces.
Jinja also takes on tailored work, adapting products to what individual clients need. The brand believes sustainable design should be inclusive and accessible. It wants to share pleasant daily rituals with its customers, through products that go with them through their routines and contribute to a healthier planet.
