Circular Economy Portugal
Circular Economy Portugal is a non-profit association promoting the transition to a circular economy in Portugal. It does this through capacity-building, projects on reuse and repair, and joint work with businesses, government and civil society.
Circular Economy Portugal (CEP) is a non-profit organisation that develops and runs waste prevention projects, promoting reuse, sharing and the valorisation of resources. It's committed to stimulating the transition to a circular economy across Portugal and works towards a society without waste. CEP also offers consultancy to help businesses and government bodies adopt circular strategies, and supports a network of “Circular Pioneers”, entrepreneurs at the forefront of the circular economy movement.
Among the major events it organises is the Reuse Portugal Summit. This national gathering brings policymakers, companies, municipalities, academia and civil society together to discuss concrete solutions for speeding up the reuse economy. Closer to the ground, CEP runs Repair Textil workshops at local circular markets. It also raises public awareness of sustainability indicators such as Earth Overshoot Day and Portugal's Deficit Day.
Through training, articles and public communication, CEP turns circular economy principles into concrete solutions intended to create social and ecological value. It works with international networks, including Zero Waste Europe and ECOS (Environmental Coalition on Standards), as part of the wider European movement for resource justice and zero waste. CEP has a strong presence on social media, with over 16,000 followers on LinkedIn, and encourages and supports public bodies, companies and organisations in adopting circular strategies.
