Over the Edge Farm is a 30-hectare off-grid eco-retreat in the Alentejo, southern Portugal, combining natural horsemanship, essential oil distillation from wild aromatic plants and personalised retreat programmes. It makes handcrafted hydrosols, essential oils and natural soaps, and the income supports the horses and the regeneration of the land.
Nayana Morag founded Over the Edge Farm on 30 hectares in the Alentejo, southern Portugal. A herd of horses roams free across the land, and the farm runs entirely off-grid, away from electronic over-stimulation. The work spans land regeneration, natural horsemanship, wellbeing and artisan aromatics.
Wild aromatic plants native to the land, among them cistus and green lavender, are harvested and distilled into hydrosols, essential oils, natural soaps and fragrant sprays. They're sold online and wholesale, and the income supports the horses and the work of regenerating the land. The signature products are the Alentejo Aroma Disk, Cistus Hydrosol and Green Lavender Hydrosol.
Visitors can join a distillation session and learn how the plant medicine is made. They can also meet the horses on the horses' own terms, in a natural, unstructured setting. A third option is to design a personalised re-set retreat, combining meditative nature walks, good food and time with the herd.
For more experienced meditators there are silent retreats of up to 21 days, in simple cabins on site, with unobtrusive care from the farm team.
Our Goal
Over the Edge Farm wants to build an off-grid sanctuary in the Alentejo that regenerates the land, and where horsemanship with free-roaming horses, wild plant aromatics and wellbeing work all belong together.
Our Wishes
The farm welcomes visitors for retreats and distillation workshops. It also invites wholesale partners and supporters to buy its artisan aromatic products, which help pay for the horses and the land regeneration work.
