Pé Descalço
Pé Descalço is a nature-based learning centre in Porto de Mós, Portugal, offering school visits, traditional workshops, weekly community gatherings and birthday celebrations, all built around barefoot contact with the earth.
The Centro de Aprendizagem Pé Descalço runs a year-round programme of thematic visits and activities built around one idea: direct, barefoot contact with nature. It sits among the rocky landscapes of Penedos Belos, near Porto de Mós. The project believes that walking barefoot on the earth helps people find balance, calm the mind and strengthen their connection to themselves and their community.
The centre invites children and adults to step out of their daily routines and reconnect with the land, animals and natural cycles. Activities include:
- school visits
- traditional workshops
- *Mornings on the Earth*, held twice a month on Sundays
- weekly community gatherings
- birthday celebrations
- holiday camps (*Férias Pé Descalço*)
- experiences for connecting with the animals
Susana Laranjeiro and Leandro Romano run it. The idea came from watching their own children's simple joy at walking barefoot through the streets. It also grew from their love of hosting, of sharing and of creating a meeting place closely tied to nature.
Local schools and families come to the centre for hands-on time in nature.

To promote environmental education and reconnect children and adults with nature, animals and natural cycles through hands-on time outdoors.
