Peneda Eco Farm is a certified organic family farm and ecotourism project located near Peneda-Gerês National Park, offering B&B accommodation, healthy local meals, and nature and culture experiences in northern Portugal. The farm produces chestnuts, fruit, vegetables, mushrooms, and aromatic herbs while following UNWTO sustainable tourism guidelines.
Peneda Eco Farm, officially known as Quinta Ecológica da Peneda, is a certified organic family farm situated in Outeiro, Arcos de Valdevez, on the fringes of the Peneda-Gerês National Park in northern Portugal. Founded in 2017 by a couple who relocated from Porto, the farm has been steadily restored and developed using permaculture principles on previously degraded land.
The farm is dedicated to the organic production of chestnuts, a variety of fruit, vegetables, mushrooms, and aromatic herbs. Guests can enjoy B&B accommodation in several unique suites — including the Earth Suite, Sky Suite, Forest Suite, River Room, Sun Suite, and Mountain Room — with options for half-board or full-board meals prepared from fresh, local, and seasonal produce. Vegetarian and vegan meal options are also available.
Beyond accommodation, Peneda Eco Farm organises a rich programme of Culture & Nature experiences in partnership with local operators, including river kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, guided cycling routes, canyoning, and jeep tours of the national park. These activities are designed to boost nature tourism while celebrating the cultural and natural heritage of the Minho and Galicia region.
The farm follows the UNWTO guidelines for sustainable tourism and has been awarded the Biosphere Responsible Tourism certification. It has also received the Jacobean Hospitality Seal from the Portuguese Federation of the Saint James Ways, recognising its excellence in welcoming pilgrims. Collaborating partners include Anima Botânica (organic herbs and phytotherapy), Biodiversus (organic fruit and vegetables), North Land, and Tobogã - Portugal Adventure Tours.
