Quinta Terra Viva is an agroecological farm in Baião growing a wide variety of certified organic seasonal vegetables, using soil regeneration and agroecology techniques. It delivers fresh produce to the Porto region and works to keep its soils living for future generations.
Quinta Terra Viva grows fruit and vegetables in the Ovil river valley in Baião, Portugal. The farm goes further than conventional organic growing. It uses agroecology techniques designed to build living soils, combining long-established natural processes with modern tools to bring soil biodiversity back into action.
The approach draws on European farms working at the front of the changes now under way in agriculture. The principle behind it: caring for the soil means caring for the plants, and for the people who eat them. Everything sold is certified organic, and the farm grows a wide variety of seasonal vegetables throughout the year.
Households in the Porto region can buy direct, through a delivery service that connects them with the producer. The wider aim is to show that modern farming can work with natural systems, keeping productivity and quality high while protecting the environment for future generations.
The farm has secured various investment supports, which allow it to scale up its agroecological model.
