Tinctória Natural

Based in Vimieiro, Alentejo, Tinctória Natural is a circular-economy initiative founded by Conceição Pires that transforms agro-food bio-waste into sustainable natural paints and dyes for decorative and artistic use. The project blends botanical dyeing, artistic practice and pedagogy to create learning experiences that reconnect participants with nature, memory and the present moment. Tinctória offers a wide range of activities: hands-on workshops and courses (in-person and online) exploring ancestral dyeing techniques; children's educational programmes using flowers, vegetables and leaves to create natural colours; team-building experiences for groups combining nature, creativity and cooperation; and immersive retreats inviting participants to slow down and create with the rhythm of nature through botanical harvesting, natural paint production and sensory writing. The project also runs 'Tribo da Tinctória', an exclusive online community where artisans, artists and natural-colour enthusiasts exchange ideas, inspire one another and deepen their connection to nature through art. An online shop extends the atelier's spirit, offering materials, kits and handmade creations inspired by slow, natural craftsmanship. Housed in a converted building in a calm, nature-connected setting near Montemor-o-Novo, the space includes a laboratory/atelier for dye extraction, multipurpose teaching rooms, a garden, and easy access to nearby harvesting areas — making it well suited for small groups in artistic or educational contexts. Through its combination of sustainable production, ancestral knowledge and mindful creative practice, Tinctória Natural embodies a circular, nature-rooted approach to art and craft.
