WavEC Offshore Renewables is a Lisbon-based non-profit that supports the offshore renewable energy sector, with a focus on wave energy and offshore wind. It combines research, consultancy and advocacy.

WavEC Offshore Renewables is a non-profit organisation based in Lisbon, at Doca de Alcântara Norte. It works on offshore renewable energy, with wave energy as its historical core and offshore wind as a growing area. The organisation is listed as a partner in the European Commission's Atlantic maritime strategy and is classed there as a local, regional or national NGO. Its work covers research, technical consultancy and policy support for the sector. In 2022 the Portuguese Directorate-General for Natural Resources, Safety and Maritime Services (DGRM) signed a protocol with WavEC. The agreement allows the two bodies to work together on offshore renewables. In December 2025 WavEC called on Portugal to fast-track the development of its offshore wind industry. The call shows the organisation taking a public position on national energy policy, not only producing technical studies. Its LinkedIn page has around 11,800 followers, and it has held events such as WavEC Lisbon 2025. The team includes marine and coastal systems researchers, such as Miguel Amado. Their work feeds into the wider question of how Portugal can use its Atlantic coastline to generate clean electricity. WavEC was founded in 2003. The sources reviewed give no member count or visitor programme. They describe an organisation focused on research and policy rather than on community-scale or off-grid projects.
