Sustainability in schools in Portugal

Portugal has run the Eco-Escolas programme since the nineties, so the green flag is a familiar sight. What the projects here add is the part the flag does not cover: someone who turns up, works with the teachers and stays longer than a term.

Transitar brings internationally tested sustainability programmes into Lisbon classrooms. K-Evolution works on citizenship and sustainability out of Setúbal. EcoAtivo does conservation education in Fundão. Sementes and Enraizar support families schooling at home or in learning communities.

If you teach, project pages show which organisations can work around your curriculum rather than deliver a fixed talk. Related focuses: community education and nature-based learning. Training dates are on our events calendar.
