ADENE study maps Portugal's floating offshore wind potential

Topicswind energyhome electrification

ADENE, with WavEC Offshore Renewables, presented a study on the Blue Economy focused on ocean renewable energy, particularly floating offshore wind, at Lisbon's Agência para o Clima. The report evaluates the sector's economic, industrial and energy potential, building on Portugal's pioneering Windfloat Atlantic project and favourable natural conditions. It notes that while floating wind's levelised cost of energy remains high, global projections point to sharp cost reductions as the technology matures. The study also flags challenges around industrial capacity and regulatory stability, and identifies engineering, marine services and R&D as the best-prepared sectors.
