Eco Aldeia PERMALOGICA

Eco Aldeia PERMALOGICA is a permaculture eco-project in Tábua, in the Portuguese countryside. A family runs it, having set out to create an eco-village and intentional community rooted in permaculture ethics. It began when Quinta Cabeça do Mato was joined with the lands of Casa da Ribeira. Over the years they have built community infrastructure and organised activities. Step by step, a shared dream is becoming reality: an intentional community dedicated to living on the land. Their focus areas include self-sufficiency through abundant gardens that produce food and medicine, and planting to provide for heating. They're also moving off-grid, designing regenerative systems and recycling comprehensively, water systems included. After 19 years of using solar energy, they report being around 90% self-sufficient. The family wants to live lightly on the land, in a clean and healthy environment. They also want to help create sustainable jobs within an economy that is human-scale, compassionate and ecological. They hope to raise healthy, happy children who learn from nature in a safe setting. They want to teach and learn life skills handed down from the past and carry them into the future. Permalógica was set up as a non-profit association to make the project viable and sustainable. Its goals include bringing people and resources together, promoting environmental education at various levels and establishing partnerships. It is guided by the core principle of permaculture and by the ethics of Earth Care, People Care and Fair Share. Funding comes from membership dues, from any donations, and from partners who support the project. The aim is for the project to sustain itself without harming the planet.
